The natural progression from perennial vegetables is into perennial tree crops.
Iʻve talked about natural succession before and I want to take it one step further into Syntropic Agroforestry. I wonʻt go into greater detail about the practices as you can find that information elsewhere. This will be a more practical and more of a sharing-based information space.
As Iʻve spent less time writing about perennial vegetables, Iʻve spent my time creating ecosystems. Iʻve been practicing these techniques over six years now. If youʻre in my area and needing agroforestry help, please reach out. I do consultations and syntropic agroforestry plans. And Iʻm hoping to have an internship program in the future.
Previous Project
I wanted to share a few photos of my previous project in the soil. This is what is possible with access to land and a solid plan. Thanks to everyone involved; we turned four acres into an agroforest! 800′ elevation.
First photo was taken 7/2019 before I began working.
Second photo taken 8/2019 when I first started working the plots.
Third photo taken 10/2021.
Fourth photo taken 1/2022.
Fifth photo taken 1/2023.
Thanks, Google, for perfectly timing the photos!
Current Project
This is a client project in the soil. This project is to rehabilitate avocados into higher production so the client can share fruit with the community. 1400′ elevation.
The first photo is taken 7/2019. This is three years before we started the project.
Second photo was taken 4/2023. About six months into the project.
Third photo was taken 2/2024.
The project size is about a half acre. Thanks to all the people involved!
Main Project
My main project is at home where I live. This is where most of my videos will be coming from. This is in the rocks. When my partner got this property is was just red cinder and a couple of trees, and the back portion fallow. We have been working this land six years, and set out our syntropic agroforestry rows about a year ago. Project size is one acre. Thanks to everyone involved! 60′ elevation.
First photo was taken 5/2018. Six months before acquiring the property.
Second Photo was 12/2021.
Third photo was taken 6/2023. Taken before we cut down the naturalized forest and started our row system.
Come grow with us!
This is our first major video update!
